Terms of use
The Bear Register is an independent family museum, moderated Register and signed-in Research Room. By using the Register, Research Room or submitting a bear, you agree to these terms and the Privacy notice.
What registration means
Registration is a community record created only after moderation. It is not an authenticity certificate, condition report, provenance record, ownership record, expert opinion, insurance document or financial valuation. TeddyAi offers model estimates of visible details only; suggestions can be wrong and must be checked by you. For buying, selling, insurance or authentication, consult an independent qualified specialist.
Your submission
- Submit only images and details you are entitled to share.
- Use a pseudonym or first name only for the owner label. Never include faces, children, addresses, contact details or private papers.
- You understand that approved details, story, owner label and photos are public. Pending and rejected submissions remain private and are automatically removed after 30 days.
- You may use the private removal link supplied after submission to request permanent removal from the Register.
Research Room rules
The Research Room is a text-only, members-only place for careful research discussion. You must be at least 18, accept these rules and agree to temporary AI safety processing before participating. We assign a random public alias; do not try to reveal another person’s identity or use the room to exchange private contact details.
- Post only research questions, observations and sources about identification clues, Steiff research, history or careful care and display.
- Do not post names, email addresses, phone numbers, locations, account details, private correspondence, personal photographs or any other personal data.
- Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, impersonate, spam, promote sales or services, solicit transactions, or post unlawful, abusive or deliberately deceptive material.
- Describe uncertainty honestly. Cite or name sources where useful, and do not present a discussion reply as authentication, proof of ownership, a valuation or a professional conservation opinion.
- No photos, file uploads, direct messages or private member-to-member contact are offered in the Research Room. Use the private contact form for a keeper enquiry.
Safety screening and moderation
Every new Research Room topic and reply is safety-screened before member visibility. A contribution may publish, remain private pending keeper review or be rejected. AI safety screening is not factual verification, historical research validation or authentication. Keepers may read reports, approve, hide, delete or suspend access. Two distinct reports can place published material under review. We do not promise approval, publication, retention for a particular time or a response by a particular date.
Research Room removal and retention
You may delete your own contribution. Deleting a topic removes its replies and associated saves, helpful marks and reports. Published Research Room contributions remain until removed. Pending, rejected and hidden contributions, together with reports, are retained for 90 days before ordinary request cleanup. Keepers may remove material sooner when the rules, safety or privacy require it.
Availability and museum material
Historical material is presented for family learning with cited sources. The Register and Research Room do not guarantee that every historical account, contribution, link or external source is complete or current. Wikimedia image credits and licence links are preserved with the relevant exhibits. The Bear Register is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Steiff or any other manufacturer.

Use the contact form for inquiries about these terms, privacy, a record or a Research Room concern. Contact messages are private, notify the keeper and may be stored in the private desk for up to 90 days. Do not use the Register or Research Room to send confidential information.
